OUR CHORUS
Bayou Blend Chorus was chartered in December 2008 as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. We are a captivating chorus of confident singers, who are focused on creating musical artistry with energy and a rich, resonant sound. We currently have 21 singers of all ages, representing all walks of life, who reside in several Acadiana Parishes. We are blessed to be under the direction of John "JP" Poirier. Bayou Blend Chorus rehearses weekly on Tuesday nights at 6:30 PM. Our rehearsal site is The First Baptist Church of Broussard; 210 South Morgan Street; Broussard, LA . We love to sing, we love to rehearse, we love to compete, and we love to perform. We'd love you to join us!
PERFORMANCE
We love to sing in our community. We have performed the National Anthem at several events, have entertained at private parties and at conventions, have sung at nursing homes, and have a Christmas Concert open to the public with no admission charge. We are looking forward to our first show in the spring of 2011. Bayou Blend Chorus is available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please visit our Hire Us Section.
EDUCATION
In addition to sharing our music with others, another passion is learning more about our American art form -- the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and is a very important component of the chorus experience. Attending our regional educational events is an integral part of the many facets of education offered by Sweet Adelines and Bayou Blend Chorus. We bring coaches in every year who instill in us their own special take on barbershop skills, vocal production, choreography and artistry.
COMPETITION
Each spring Bayou Blend Chorus participates in Region 10's chorus competition in Houston, Texas. This is a special time for choruses and quartets from our region to come together to sing for each other and to receive constructive feedback from a qualified judging panel. Winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories compete in the Sweet Adelines International Competition and Convention which is held in the fall.
QUARTETS
Most choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Bayou Blend Chorus currently is home to one registered quartet and several other non-registered quartets. We are very proud of them! Visit our Quartet Section and learn more about them.
